“Guys from Busan are not friendly with their women.”

—

Bacon

Hahahaha. And now he‘s spouting off about how they think Seoul men are girly. Appropriate for conversations going around right now.

(via hotyellowfellows)

I have no idea what this…

According to Bacon: “They’re not up front with their emotions. They don’t say ‘I love you’ as freely as Seoul guys. They’re not as nice with their words. If you look up 경상도 guys, there are lots of videos about them. It’s a comedy thing. But it doesn’t mean that they don’t like you. They’re just not as fancy. Some guys are, but what people think about the guys from Busan or Gyeongsang province. Just stereotypes.”

I think it’s just kind of like how people in the South are inbred hicks, people in California are hippies, New Yorkers are elitist intellectuals, the Welsh are sheep fuckers, etc. Maybe it’s more like the Gyeongsang guys think Seoul guys are pussywhipped, but Bacon just wanted to use nicer terms.

He offered to link and translate some of them, or at least give the gist of some of the rants and jokes.

That’s it, exactly. It’s a regional stereotype. Anytime Busan does anything emotionally oafish or stereotypically guy oblivious, and I tell my coworkers about it, they shake their heads and mutter about 경상도 남자. A little stoic and not prone to showy romantic gestures. Kind of the epicenter of Korean machismo.

Maybe now would be a good time to get into a bit of what happened on Christmas, to illustrate. I hope Busan won’t be mad, but he owes me this much at least. Sorry, bud. I’ll put it in another post, so I can do a cut, because it’s bound to be a little long….

Edit: Fucking reblogging function. The quotes are flipped. The bottom paragraph was by HYF, for those who don’t know.
