Well, it was graphic, there wasn’t much character development, and the pacing was seriously strange. But I don’t think its intended purpose was entertainment value — I think it was intended to make people upset, sick and angry, and on that level, I think it was a major success. It’s not meant to be a comfortable (or comforting) film on any level, and I think films that don’t give the audience a place to rest are extremely hard to make. It’s hard to judge it artistically, because you almost don’t want it to be art. I think it was a testament instead. And an effective one.
